What do good static ads look like? 10 real examples

The best static ads put one idea in one image: the product or a person using it, a short hook, and a single offer or proof point. Several Meta Ad Library ads still running after more than a year follow this pattern. A static ad is a non-animated image with one message and one call to action.

Which static ads show the product in real life?

The simplest static ad is a clear photo of the product or the person using it, plus a line that says why it matters. AdKit found static images made up 46% of Meta ads in its analysis of 217,000+ ads. These four lead with a plain photo, and two of them have been running for more than a year.

The Hero Company image ad

The Hero Company: a cause-led bracelet photo

A black-and-white photo of a soldier with a service dog makes the cause the hook, and the bracelet on the wrist keeps the product in the same frame. The on-image line says what each sale funds.

ArtMate image ad

ArtMate: a hand holding the open art kit

The photo shows what you get and what you can make with it, with a small painting in the lid. The copy frames it as a gift for yourself or an artist you love.

Branch Basics image ad

Branch Basics: dryer balls on a wooden surface

A plain photo shows exactly what is in the pack, and the headline "Ditch Toxic Dryer Sheets!" names the problem it replaces.

Animalsox image ad

Animalsox: a person holding up sloth socks

A smiling person holding the product is easy to read at thumb speed. The buy-one-get-one offer in the copy gets a reason from the headline "Share the cozy".

What do static ads built around an offer look like?

When the offer is the hook, the image mostly carries the price, the discount or the deadline. These three do it differently: one looks like a phone note, one looks deliberately homemade, and one answers a price worry for a local business.

The notes-app look reads like a message from a friend, not an ad. Struck-out prices on the free extras and a discount badge make the deal easy to add up.

Dog is Human image ad

Dog is Human: a rough sale graphic with a deadline

The deliberately rough layout stands out in a polished feed. It states the old and new price and says the sale ends today.

Gator Metal Roofing image ad

Gator Metal Roofing: a monthly price on a house photo

The hook "Think a metal roof is out of reach?" is answered on the image with a monthly price and three benefit icons. The Learn more button fits a service people ask about before buying.

How do reviews, wordplay and names work in a static ad?

Some ads win with a joke, a review or a name rather than a discount. Trendtrack lists five parts of high-performing static ads: a hook, a value proposition, a simple format, a direct call to action, and trust signals inside the creative. For more across formats, browse our collection of real ad examples; for placement-specific ones, see Instagram ad examples.

Pela Case image ad

Pela Case: a cabbage-print phone case and a pun

The product design is the joke: a cabbage-print case among growing cabbages, with "Plastic is OUT" as the line. It is readable in a second.

Ostrichpillow: a travel photo with review cards

Two review cards sit on top of a woman using the neck pillow on a plane, so the proof is inside the image, as Trendtrack recommends.

How to make your own static ads

Make one ad per idea, size it for the feed, and launch it from an account you control.

  1. Choose one idea per ad: the product in use, one offer, or one proof point. The Marpipe guide says crowded copy reduces effectiveness and directness wins.
  2. Write the hook as the headline and stay inside Meta's limits. Meta's ads guide lists 50-150 characters of primary text and a 27-character headline for Facebook Feed.
  3. Export at a 4:5 ratio, 1440 x 1800 pixels, as JPG or PNG. Other placements need other sizes; see Facebook ad sizes.
  4. Make the image. In ScaleShot you paste your website or Shopify link and it learns your logo, colours, fonts and voice. Then you ask the Ads Agent in chat for image ads from templates or prompts, and they land in your Library where you can Remix or Edit them. For what AI-made ads look like, see AI ad examples.
  5. Launch to your own Meta ad account. A Visitors campaign needs no pixel, Sales needs a pixel with Purchase events, and Leads needs Lead events. ScaleShot asks before it changes anything.
  6. Test one change at a time, such as colour, call to action or product angle.

Common static ads questions

Common static ads questions

What does static ad mean?

A static ad is an advertisement that stays the same once shown, with fixed text, image and call to action. Dynamic ads instead change content based on viewer behaviour and product data.

Are static ads better than video ads?

In AdKit's analysis, static ads ran 42.6 days on average on Meta versus 34.3 for video. Run length shows what advertisers kept, not proof of results. For video, see Facebook video ad examples.

When should a small shop use static ads?

The Marpipe guide says static ads work best for brand storytelling, new companies building recognition, and consistent seasonal or launch campaigns.

What do the Meta Ad Library examples prove?

Our check of the Meta Ad Library for this guide shows which ads advertisers are still running, which is a signal they keep them. It does not show sales or return on ad spend.

What does ScaleShot cost, and what is not included?

Our entry offer is $19.95 for the first 2 weeks, then $42 every 2 weeks, with 500 credits and a 14-day money-back guarantee. A Fast image costs 10 credits and an HQ image 20.
